SSC CHSL SELECTION PROCEDURE

SSC has issued notification for the 2019 CHSL (10 + 2) exam. The exam is conducted in three tiers - Tier1, Tier 2 & Tier 3 i.e. in three phases in which all of them contribute to the selection procedure of SSC CHSL.

Candidates who want to give this examination should know about the selection process. If you know the selection process, you can easily prepare for your exam keeping the availability of time and resources in mind.

For qualifying in exam, you need to clear all the stages of SSC CHSL which will include these criteria of selection-

Tier 1 Selection Criteria:-

The Tier-1 which is a Computer based Examination, will include 100 questions divided into 4 subjects each of which will include 25 questions. Every subject carries 50 marks and each of the wrong answers will be given negative 0.5 marking. The duration for this paper will be 60 minutes. Clearing this level will make you eligible for Tier 2 examination.

Tier 2 Selection Criteria

The Tier 2 examination is a pen and paper based examination which questions Essay Writing and Letter/ Application writing. The paper is of 200 marks which tests your writing skills. You need to write 200-250 words for an essay and Letter/ Application of about 150-200 words. You need at least 33% for qualifying the Tier 2 Examination.

Tier 3 Selection Process

Only the candidate who clears the Tier-I and Tier-II examination will be eligible for Tier-III examination. This test is of qualifying nature.

For Data Entry Selection Process: Candidates, here are required to pass the typing test on computer. This test will be conducted in the given location/ venue. You will be needed to show 8000 key depressions per hour for qualifying this stage.

For LDC/ JSA & PA/ SA: This is also a typing test which is conducted for LDC/ JSA & PA/ SA. These typing tests can be given in Hindi or English according to your choice. Here, both speed and accuracy are measured. You will be given a particular passage which you would have to write in 10 minutes with accuracy.

Final Allotment

The merit list will be generated according to the Tier 1and Tier 2 examination. The qualified candidate of tier 3 will be allotted the respected position.

Note:

The selection in SSC CHSL will be based on the following criteria:

  1. Candidates will be shortlisted for Tier-III examination according to their performance in computer-based written examination i.e. Tier-1 and descriptive examination i.e.Tier-2. You will be qualified for Tier-3 examination only if you qualify Tier-1 and Tier-2.
  2. Allocation of candidates will be done on the basis of their qualifications by the user departments and the choices made by them. Candidates from other communities will not be accommodated for the reserved shares of the vacancies.
  3. The Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes, and PH candidates will be arranged according to their status in the overall qualification list for general/unreserved vacancies.
  4. The reserved vacancies will be filled separately by different SC, ST, OBC and PH candidates, which will include scheduled tribes, other backward classes and PH candidates who are less qualified than General category candidates.
