IBPS clerk Exam pattern 2019

IBPS conducts a general written examination every year for the post of clerk in many banks across the country.The IBPS Clerk Exam is conducted in two-level preliminary examination and main exam. Students pass both levels, then they are selected as clerks in the bank.It is very important to know the exam pattern of IBPS clerk before starting the preparation of written examination of the IBPS clerk. So now in this article we are discussing the examination pattern of IBPS clerk.


Selection process of IBPS clerk

The exam is organized in two stages 

  • Preliminary examination 
  • Mains Examination


Preliminary examination 

The mode of examination is online and there are three sections in the examination, so it is important for the candidates to pass all the sections, then she /he is selected for the post of clerk. Minimum marks for pass all the sections is based on cut off. 

The time duration of this examination is 1 hour and there are three sections in the examination. Therefore, the time of each section is 20 minutes.

The total number of questions in this exam is 100 and each question is of 1 marks so the exam is of 100 marks.

There is a penalty for wrong answers in both the preliminary exams and the main exam. 1 marks is given for every correct answer and 0.25 marks for each wrong answer are deducted.


Main examination 

The time period of this examination is 160 minutes and the total number of questions is 190.

The exam is of 200 marks. Negative marking is also applicable for this exam.

The selection of candidates is entirely based on the main exam.
