BSF Head Constable exam pattern 2019

Border Security Force issues vacancy for the post of BSF head constable.12th (PCM) pass candidate apply for this post. It is essential to know the exam pattern of BSF HC before starting the preparation of exam. 


Selection process

BSF Head Constable Exam will consist of 3 phases –

  • Written Test OMR Based in MCQ Format,
  • PST, PET & Documentation and Descriptive Written Test and
  • Final Medical Examination.


Written examination 

The time period of this examination is 3 hours and all questions are of objective type. Exam is held in selected centers.

Each question is of 2 marks and the total number of questions is 100, so the examination is 200 points.

 Questions are available in both Hindi and English mediums. 

0.50 marks is cut at every wrong answer. There will be no marks is cut in due questions. 


PST, PET & Documentation 


The selected candidates, who pass in the first phase, call for the second phase. The second phase is divided in two sub phase 




PET for males 


 Test  Male candidates

Physical Efficiency Test  1.6 km race in 6.5 minutes 
   Long jump 3.65mts in 3 chances
   High jump 1.2 mts in 3 chances 


PET for females

Physical Efficiency Test  800 mts race to be completed in 4 minutes 
  9 feet long jhump in 3 chances
  3 feet long jhump in 3 chances 



Women's pregnancy at PET will be considered ineligible.


Document Verification 

In this phase the original documents of the candidates are examined.


Medical examination 


The medical examination is the final stage of this examination, after passing this stage the candidates are selected as head constables. This medical examination is conducted by BSF officials.

Minimum distant vision should be 6/6 and 6/9 of the both eyes without correction, i.e., without wearing glasses.


Must pass high-grade colour vision test.


Must not have knock-knees, flat feet or varicose vein or squint in eyes and they should possess CP-III BY ISIHARA.


Must be in sound mental and bodily health and free from any defect/deformity likely to interfere with the efficient performance of the duties.


The candidates who qualify all the stages is choosing  for the post  of  BSF head constable.
