# Work

Work is done when a force produces motion. The wirk done by a force on a body depens on magnitude of the force(F) and distance through which the body moves(S).
W = F × S.
The unit of work is 'Newton metre' which is return as Nm, it is also known as 'Joule'

## Power

Power is defined as the rate of doing work.
Power= Work done / Time Taken.

Being a fraction of two scalar quantities, work and time, power is a scalar quantity. The usnitof power is "joules per second". And the SI unit of power is watt and it is the rate of doing work at 1 joule per second.

## Energy

Energy is the ability to do work. The amount of energy possessed by a body is equal to the amount of work it can do when its energy is realesed.The SI unit of energy is joule and energy is a scalar quantity. energy is of two types:

1. Kinetic Energy
2. Potential Energy

## Kinetic Energy

The energy of a body that originates due to its motion is called kinetic energy. Kinetic energy = F × S and also Kinetic energy=(mv2)/2

## Potential Energy

The energy of a body due to its position or change in shape is known as potential energy.
P.E = mgh, where m = mass of the body, g = acceleration due to gravity, h = height of the body above a reference point. The sum of potential energy and kinetic energy is known as mechanical energy.

## Law of Conservation of Energy

Energy can neither be created nor be destroyed it can be converted to one form to another form. eg: When a body fall from a body then the potential energy(p.e) is gradually converted to the kinetic energy(k.e) and after that again K.E is converted in P.E when body reach the ground(stationary position)
