Iron ore is the basic mineral and the backbone of industrial development. Magnetite is the finest iron ore having 70% of iron content. Hematite is another type of iron ore having 50-60% of iron content. The major iron ore belts are Orissa jharkhand belt, durg bastar chandrapur belt, bellary-chitradurga-chikmaglur-tumkur belt Maharashtra gao belt.
It is used for manufacturing of steel. Orissa is the largest producer of it.
Production of copper is very low. Balaghat mines in M.P. produces 52% of India’s copper singbhum in jharkhand and khetri in Rajasthan are also famous.
It is a ore which is used to manufacturing of aluminum. Orissa is largest producer off bauxite. Kalahandi and sambalpur are leading producers. Lohardaga of jharkhand have rich deposit.
It is found in Northern edge of the chota Nagpur plateaus. Ajmer in Rajasthan, Nellore mica belt of andhera Pradesh and koderma gaya-hazaribagh belt if jharkhand is leading producers.
